PROKOFIEV: MINIATURES

Album Cover.jpg

"American pianist Brian Woods is quickly carving out a reputation as one of classical music's most compelling rising voices."

-Occhi Magazine

A striking exploration of Sergei Prokofiev's most imaginative piano works.

Following the success of his acclaimed debut album Wanderings, pianist Brian Woods offers a reexamination of Sergei Prokofiev's short-form piano works in Prokofiev: Miniatures

The album features three collections: Visions fugitives, Tales of an Old Grandmother, and Sarcasms, each revealing a different facet of Prokofiev's biting wit and lyrical nostalgia. For Woods, these works are not marginal encores but central expressions of a radical modernist voice.

What Critics Are Saying

"These pieces may well be miniature in size, but as Woods makes clear, not in musical and imaginative breadth and scope."

-Classical Music Sentinel

"Through thirty concise musical portraits, the album reveals the composer's wit, lyricism, and uncompromising honesty."

-Interlude

"I can't think of a better introduction to these pieces by one of my favorite composers, nor can I think of a better introduction to Woods."
